MISTER NO LEGS ~ EAST AFRICA TRAVEL GUIDE
BASIC TRAVELLING FOR STUDENTS AND BACKPACKERS
BUDGET INDEPENDENT TRAVELLING
Right now your on-line travel guide to East Africa is expanding pole pole (means slowly in Swahili). Lately we added information on Rwanda, Eastern Congo and our newest chapters North Malawi and North Mozambique. Most parts of Southern and Western Tanzania and Burundi have already been finished a long time ago. In the near future we'll work on Uganda, which is finished for about 50%, and Kenya. In the end this will be THE website to visit for student travellers, backpackers and other independent, basic travellers in East Africa.
Get free tips, tricks and advice on travelling through this beautiful Sub-Saharan part of the African continent, take a look at the many pictures and learn basic Swahili. The title of every page on this website is translated to Swahili and in the future there will appear a words and phrases-page. But the most important content of Mister-NoLegs.com will be the big amount of information about things to see and do in different places around the East African region. Not only famous tourist attractions, but unknown off-beaten-track adventures as well. No luxury lodge safaris, only affordable ideas for budget travellers as students and backpackers.
Wherever you will go in East Africa, there will be at least some helpful information for you. Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda are described and even small pieces of neighbouring Eastern Congo, Northern Malawi and -Mozambique. We travelled different routes through the countries which we described. If you're planning to travel (parts of) these routes, check our website.
Let us navigate you trough this website using all hyperlinks from one part of your own route trough East Africa to another and back. Please start in "OUR ROUTES" or in the COUNTRY of your choice and you will find your way. Or check out our East Africa TOP TEN's listed underneath!

DISCOVER UN-DISCOVERED EAST AFRICA TOP TEN
In the last decade(s) East Africa is becoming more and more popular to visit by tourists and travellers. Numerous of places are filled up with white people. Doing a safari in Serengeti NP does sometimes feel like the traffic jam on a European Highway. Therefore we published our TOP TEN of places to visit if you don't want to get stuck in a tourist traffic jam. These places (of course) are visited, but by just a few or they are off-the-beaten-track for real. Spots marked with three stars (***) are our must-have-seens.
1. RWENZORI MOUNTAINS, Uganda. Near Kasese in the western part of Uganda this mountain range is a very spectacular spot for adventurous, back to basic trekkings to high altitude peaks. Click here for our review or check rwenzoritrekking.com.
2. MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK***, Uganda. This National Park, not visited by many travellers, is in our opinion the most interesting N.P. in East Africa: gameviewing, boat trips on the Nile river and walking around the spectacular Murchison Falls make this N.P. the most aternate we can imagine. Click here for our review or check the Red Chili-website.
3. LAKE TANGANYIKA FERRY TRIP, Tanzania. Travelling the deepest lake of Africa from Kasanga to Kigoma takes you three days on a historical, German ferry called MV Liemba. Experience the life on this beautiful great lake, click here for our review.
4. RELAXING IN KIBUYE***, Rwanda. Kibuye is paradise on the shores of Lake Kivu. Enjoy the panorama's, take a relaxing swim in the lake or walk around Kibuye peninsula. Click here for our review.
5. MANGROVES OF KITUNDA, Tanzania. Across Lukuledi Estuary near Lindi there is a small village called Kitunda where you can enjoy local life and drink local brew. An hours walk from this cosy village you can find the most beautiful mangroves of the Tanzanian Indian Ocean-coast. Click here for our review.
6. BURUNDI'S CAPITAL BUJUMBURA, Burundi. Hardly a tourist, but the city of Bujumbura is worth a visit. The beaches on Lake Tanganyika, the zoo, nightlife and the good food make it a still unknown, but interesting city. Click here for our review.
7. NGOZI CRATER LAKE***, Tanzania. A one day trip from Mbeya leads you into thick rainforests on the Poroto Ridge and to the beautiful crater lake. The most adventurous among you can even descend into the crater if weather allows you to do it. Click here for our review.
8. SCUBA DIVING MIKINDANI, Tanzania. One of the best, but less visited spots for scuba diving in East Africa. Probably you'll be diving with hunchback whales, who rest in Mikindani bay from time to time. Click here for our review or check Eco2-website.
9. ISIMILA STONE AGE SITE, Tanzania. Near Iringa you can find Tanzania's Small Grand Canyon. Meet the countries geological history here. Click here for our review.
10. AMBONI, Tanzania. Near Tanga you can visit Amboni's caves, which lead all the way to Mombasa. To complete a nice day-trip the nearby Galanos Springs in the fantastic palmtree forest is the ideal supplement. Our review is still to come.
EAST AFRICA'S HOT SPOT TOP TEN
We understand that no one is as adventurous and some of the most adventurous people want to see the must-have-seen places. That is why we published the TOP TEN list of East African Hot Spots. Spots marked with three stars (***) are our must-have-seens.
Note: World-famous attractions like Gorilla-tracking in Rwanda, Chimpanzee-tracking in Gombe Stream, Tanzania and Tsavo- and Queen Elizabeth National Parks in Kenya and Uganda are not in our TOP TEN, because we didn't visit them ourselves. Otherwise they would have been in our list without a doubt.

Mister-NoLegs.com started as MisterNoLegs.webklik.nl, a website to promote the Dutch biography "Mister No Legs" about a Tanzanian disabled guy. He fell out of a tree when he was 12 years old. He spent a long time in a hospital, but survived. After selling the book successfully, the website became obsolete and during one of our travels through East Africa the idea of upgrading the website to a travelguide on East Africa arised. There will always be kept some space for the story on Mister No Legs and the news on No Legs-project on this website.
